Joyce Kathleen (Helderman) Lay, age 79 of Vincennes, passed away Monday January 18, 2010 at Good Samaritan Hospital.. Joyce was born in Wheatland June 24, 1930 to the late Chester C and Thelma (Jones) Helderman. She was a lifelong Knox County resident, graduated from Wheatland High School and retired from the former Hamilton Glass Factory in 1990 after 41 years of service. She was a former member of the Wheatland United Methodist Church and Union Local 1165.
Survivors include her sister, Judy Small and brother, Jerrell Helderman, both of Vincennes. Also surviving is a niece Jenny Lynn Thompson, a nephew, Rodney Keith Helderman, 3 great nieces and 3 great nephews.
Private family funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday January 20, 2010 in Gardner-Brockman Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Nielson officiating. Following the service, she was laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery next to her beloved husband Jack who preceded her in death April 4, 1999.
