Jack Lewis, age 58, of Vincennes, IN passed away Friday January 22, 2010 at his residence. He was born in Princeton, IN and has lived in Vincennes for most of his life. Jack served his country in the US Army in Vietnam and was retired from Heinz Plumbing. He was a life member of the HandyMan Club and a former member of the V.F.W. Jack enjoyed working with his hands and was very skilled at making things from wood, cans or other metals, which he gave as keepsakes to his loved ones.
Jack is survived by a brother, Bob Lewis of Vincennes, 3 sisters, Sue Ann (husband, Leonard) Stevenson, Deborah (husband, Kevin) Cox, all of Vincennes and Elizabeth (husband, Stephan) Lloyd of Carlisle. Also surviving is a sister-in-law Rita Lewis and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews whom Jack loved as if they were his very own children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Sarah (Belcher) Lewis and his brother, Albert A. Lewis.
Funeral services to celebrate Jack’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday January 26, 2010 at Gardner-Brockman Funeral Home 505 Main Street with Michael Lowe officiating. Following the service he will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery with graveside military rites performed by the All Weather Firing Squad. Friends are invited to visit and share memories of Jack with the family on Monday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
